Data Collection
- The app does not require user accounts or login.
- Chess.com usernames entered by the user are used solely to fetch publicly available game data from the Chess.com public API.
- We do not receive your payment card or billing details. Apple processes purchases through StoreKit; Google processes purchases through Google Play Billing.
- We and our service providers may process limited data needed to provide the app, measure usage, diagnose crashes, support rewarded ads, and verify premium entitlements.
Data Categories We Collect
- Purchases: Product identifiers and transaction dates used to determine whether premium access is active.
- Identifiers: Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android) if you grant tracking permission, and device identifiers used by our service providers.
- Usage Data: Screen views, app events, and feature usage.
- Diagnostics: Crash logs and performance data.
- Device Information: Device model, OS version, and app version.
Payments
We offer an optional one-time premium purchase processed by Apple on iOS and by Google on Android. We never receive your payment method. Apple handles iOS transactions through StoreKit; Google handles Android transactions through Google Play Billing. We record only the information needed to determine whether your purchase entitlement is active, such as the product identifier and transaction date. Apple's and Google's privacy policies apply to the payment itself.
Advertising
We display rewarded video ads through Google AdMob for users who have not purchased premium. Google may collect data as an independent controller for ad delivery and measurement, including the advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS or AAID on Android) if you grant permission, IP address, coarse location, device type and operating system, and ad interaction data such as when an ad is shown, clicked, or completed.
If you decline tracking permission, ads may still appear but they will be non-personalized. Learn more at Google's advertising privacy policy.
Tracking Permission
On iOS, when you first launch the app, the system may ask whether to allow tracking. We use this permission only to enable personalized ads. You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android, you can opt out of personalized ads in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Google → Ads on some devices). Denying tracking does not disable any app functionality on either platform.
